I don't plan on tethering with it. So what type of plan do I need to use all the compabilities of this phone? Do I need data connect or anything or will media max work. Or better yet do I need both to cover internet usage and multimedia like texting and what not. Basically I want a plan to be able to use all the features on this phone unlimitling except for tethering to a laptop, so can somebody tell me the exact options I'll need?

That's the data plan - it covers all data (email, web browsing, RSS if you want that as well, and downloads), but not messaging. You'd have to get a separate text messaging plan. However, if you want to send emails with pictures as attachements, you can do that & it's covered under the data plan. You can also send a text message via email, which would also be covered under the data plan. If you're planning on texting/messaging alot between other phones, you'd be best off getting a messaging plan.

Or he could do the PDA Max plan which would include 1000 messages for 49.99 with voice.

or you could save money and do the mediaworks umlimited data with 1000 text for 29.99. if the cingy rep says mediaworks isnt allowed with that phone, tell him youre gonna use a v600 or something, not the 8525(say its a gift) and then they will give you the mediaworks plan. Been using mediaworks on several pda's and currently 8125 and never had a problem. and i have push email as well...

I fugured you could use media net on a PDA for internet use. But isn't there an advantage to using a data plan? I thought they give you an IP address or something? Oh and if anyone is looking to get rid of their 8125....get at me.
