I agree. Cingular should have kept the video conference camera since they will eventually have that feature in the future. I will just have to try and find an unlocked Asian version and probaby pay premium $$$. It's amazing how US carriers are so far behind compared to Europe and Asia. I've seen people already using video calls in Europe and Asian countries.

I'm always surprised when people complain about the lack of video calling. Sure it might be neat, but is it really useful? I think it's something I would try once just for the novelty, and never use again. I just don't see the point of it.

Now video sharing - where you use the main camera to show the other person something in front of you - sounds useful to me. But just showing the other person my face? 😕 Why?

Simple answer. I use these type of phones for business. I communicate with people around the world using land line or VOIP video conference calls. Believe it or not, clients wants to see the face of the person that they're dealing with. That's why certain phones are only functional for certain group of people who actually uses these features, not just to have the latest and greatest equipment.

that may be true, but you are the minority in this situation.

hmmmmn, I wonder what you actually do for a living. I just happen to deal with Fortune 500 companies daily and we seem to be using the same tools. Now, if you call that minority, I say we must be on two diffrent planets.

i work as an network engineer for cingular, i sit beside our data solutions specialist and most of his fortune 500 customers aren't worried about video calling at his time. they want email and a high speed network on their mobile devices. umts/hsdpa video calling overseas at this time is horrible, from what i've seen. a service that isn't perfect isn't good for anyone. the companies you deal with may be using those tools, but trust me VoIP is nowhere near as bad as the current video calling features out there right now.

yeah- its more about a feature that is not hindering the cingular quality or service, and cingular still wants the phone made "special" to their likings.
