I currently own the PPC 6700 and sometimes surfing the web can be painfully slow using EVDO. Does anyone know how much speed advantage will be for HDSPA?

I have both the 6700 and the Tytn (8525)-the processor makes the difference. The 8525 has a 400Mhz and the 6700 has a 200 mHz processor. DOwnloads on EVDO are probably faster, but the processing speed of the 8525 makes loading the info so much nicer!

The 6700 has an Intel PXA270 (Bulverde) 416 Mhz processor. See: https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p =808 If you've got some benchmark comparison results, I'd love to see them. Just because Intel claims the 6700's cpu is faster than the 8525's doesn't mean it really is.

the PPC 6700, as well as the tmo MDA and the cingular 8125 were all released at the same time on essentially the same structure. They all have the same processor which is a 190 MhZ Texas Instruments OMAP processor..go read the specifications. The 8525 upgrades its processor to 412 MhZ Samsung.

You're kidding right. Go to https://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p =808 That is the info page for the PPC 6700 here on Phonescoop's site go down towards the bottom of the page to the Productivity section and read Integrated PDA entry. It reads OS: Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC
416 MHz Intel processor.

Then you can go to http://www.america.htc.com/products/sprint/fe atures-specs.html which is the phone manufacturer's specifications page for the PPC 6700 and look at the section labeled Processor, it shows Intel Bulverde 416MHz.

I'm looking at my PPC 6700 right now by clicking Start, Settings, Device Information, Hardware. It shows CPU Intel(R) PXA270 Speed 416 MHz.

I don't know if they made another older version of the ...

well they must have updated it then. I was on cingular with the 8125, but it didnt work for me because of the rpocessor, so i went to a verizon store and spoke to a rep who said that the PPC 6700 was essentially the same exact thing as the 8125. So i got the Treo 700W instead.

There's your problem, you actually listened to a sales rep.

I agree, my friend. Not all reps (regardless of carrier) are too educated. The 6700 is excellent. It's CMDA, not GSM (Like Cingular), and that makes all the difference.

this isnt a cdma/gsm issue...the point is the 6700 has a faster processor. now you can overclock the 8125 which i have done and find it to run quite smooth now.
