Finally a decent non-camera phone
This may not be the most exciting phone (specs wise), but for those who don't need/want a camera, this is the PERFECT option. It has a high quality screen, external display, and likely will have the usual stellar Motorola reception.
But damn, does that antenna look out of place.
Hopefully it will have build quality more akin to the RAZR than the cheaply constructed garbage E815.
What new entry-level Samsung is coming to Verizon with an internal antenna? What new LG, for that matter? It's obvious that these extennas are on account of the carrier as Motorola could easily whip up a W220-type handset with their powerful internal from the RAZR.
Verizon stipulating antennas? Dream on. Ever heard of the A630, A930, A950, A970, or A990?
You'd be a fool to not see the difference between Verizon and Sprint when it comes to internal antennas on their cheaper phones. If Verizon is finally coming around with the A870 as you state, then fine, but it was probably post-W315 development. At the same time, if LG's internal antenna performance for their new entry-level handsets is anything like the Chocolate series and Samsung pre-A990, Lord knows they'll need Moto right there as well. Give it some time.
Samsung has committed itself to release internal antenna only CDMA phones.
Pre-A990, recall the A800, A820, A840, A640, A880, A900, A920, A940, and A960 all getting superb RF performance. Guess what? None had external nose-pickers.
It doesn't come down to Verizon, it comes down to the manufacture. Verizon is not stipulating anything in regards to antennas, and you'd be a fool to believe anything like that. It is not their problem LG cannot master internnas. Their cross-town rival sure has.
