I've read that the confirmation tones don't sound if you've set the ring to silent. Since I don't own this phone yet, two questions back to you...

1. Is it a simple matter switch to silent? (My old LG VX4400 switches just by pressing it accidentally in my pocket -- which is way *too* easy and one reason I vowed not to buy LG again).

2. Do you get the stupid confirmation tone in the process of setting it to silent?

Pressing and holding * will get you to vibrate mode; pressing the side button to lower the volume two more times puts in completely silent mode. To get it back to sound mode, you simply bring the volume up. No confirmation tones chime when you put it in or out of silent mode.
