Update to my Review - 3 weeks after purchase

I have decided to return my CU500 after 3 weeks in exchange for a black RAZR. 3G has been great in my town, and all the high-speed data stuff was great on the CU500, but I have come to learn that data is just a novelty item for me and I don't need to be spending $19.99/month for it.

Honestly, the dealbreaker on this phone is that there is no voice dial. I just want to be able to dial the phone through a bluetooth headset while driving my manual car in stop-and-go traffic on the way to work and back. I cannot believe that such a "high-tech" phone would not have this feature, and in fact if it did, I probably would have continued dropping $20/month for data as well.

you should of waited and talked to a Cingy rep. The voice dial feature is awesome. On you razor and other phones you need to record the name under you're voice. That system required that you tone or affliction is almost exactly the same as when you initially recorded the name. When you use BT or are excited or sleepy or whatever your tome will be completely different thus the phone won't recognize the voice and then you're stuck swearing into the phone and dialing it manually anyways. Cingy voice dial uses separate computers to recognize the letters you put in for the name not a recording. So you just type in the name and the computer uses phonics to recognize the voice. also you can just speak the numbers and it will recognize and di...

why is your name cingulair? god, so many customers call it that and its soooo annoying.

"Hi ma'am what carrier do you have?"
"I have Motorola"
"No no, what cell phone company do you pay your bills to?"
"OHHH... cellular."
"You mean Cingular?"
"Yes, Cingulair."

Yeah so I just looked into Cingular's $4.99 Voice Dial and its complete crap. You basically lose your m2m so that is a MAJOR dealbreaker.

BTW, the RAZR has given me no problems yet, but to be honest I'm still waiting for my BT headset for final judgement.

You're right. Any time voice dial is used, the m2m feature doesn't apply so you actually count off your regular plan minutes.

The Cingy rep should have given killandingo $5, then. $5 a month (and worse?) just to get voice dial? Okay, maybe manic-depressives need it, but I had absolutely no recognition problems with my Sprint (Kyocera?) TP2200 4-5 years ago. Heck, it also took a custom ring tone simply by recording it, just like a voice memo. Get with it Cingular!

The Razor? I feel bad for you. You'll be suffering worse with that phone. Here is what will happen to your phone.
* The keypad will stop working
* Dust will get under the screen
* You'll get an error message that says "Insert Sim Card"
* You will drop and miss numerous calls
* Your screen will freeze
* You will need to purchase a new battery within 3 months
* You will be calling the manufacturers warranty at least 8 times within the first year.

Here's the Manufacturer's Warranty Number
1-800-331-0500...you may want to put it on speed dial since you now have the razor.

i agree. after a couple months i had to charge my razr every freakin' day!!! sometimes it would even die before the day was over. god, its so annoying. thats why i got rid of it and pulled my old phone out from under the bed. im now looking into this phone. if you buy it through cingular, can you still use mp3 clips as ringtones? im pretty sure you cant, since cingualr wants all your money and makes you pay for everything, but just making sure.
