Memory card/MP3 Help

Hey I had some major issues even getting my memory card to work. I tried it with the USB and couldnt get anything, so I tried it with the adapter that came with it, still nothing. Then found the 277634#*# thing along with my USB cable and got it to come upsaying 'DO NOT Disconnect During Transfer' on my phone screen and I attempt to drag my iTunes MP3s to the Removable Drive (F🙂 but it says I need to format my card, then I try to format it and it doesnt work. Any idea how to format it if I try and the computer says it cant? Is it my computer or the fact that I bought my Micro SD 1g card from Target and not Cingular, do only certain cards work?

The cu500 is very picky about which memory cards will work with the phone. Apparently, Cingular will only guarantee that cards produced by Sandisk will work with this phone. I bought a cheapo card from Office Depot and it did not work in this phone even though it does work in other devices. I have read recently that new microSD cards from Kingston also work with the phone. However, the people reporting positive results from Kingston cards indicate they have to be purchased from Kingston directly and not from 3rd parties because the 3rd party cards are older and may not work.

I have a Tanscend MicroSD card and I can get it to work in my phone. The problem I am having is when it is in my phone as a mass storage device, I have it connected with the USB cable to my labtop with Windows XP and I drag a music file and drop it on the 'Removable Drive', I get a message that my card must be formatted. So I clikc format card and it says card cannot be formatted. Is this because it is trying to format my phone not the card in my phone? If so how do I format just the card?

You might want to try formatting the card with the phone or another device.

Menu->My Stuff->Memory Card

However, the cards are usually formatted at the factory. I don't think it is possible to 'format' the phone. It is possible that the memory card is 'locked'.

Check these things.

I have a MicroSD 2gb card for my phone.I go to Menu->My Stuff->Memory Card and all it ever says is "Card Not Ready!" I put the card in my computer and it appears to be working just fine... any suggestions??? Is it too big? Because my PNY 1gb does the same thing.

It is probably your card is not capatible with the CU500. I bought a 2GB KINGSTON MicroSD and it will not recognize the card. I bought my 1GB (SanDisk) and even it sometimes won't see the card. I have to blow into the slot to clean it and then pop the card in and out a few times for the card to be seen. I just gave up on the 2GB and gave it to my daughter who has a Samsung Blackjack and the 2GB card works just fine in her phone...

All you have to do is format your card. Take the card out of your phone and load your sd card into your computer and save your files from your sd card to your computer and right click on removable disk and click format. than download your files back onto your sd card.

Company owned Cingular manager told me cable is not necessary -- Said to simply take MicroSD card in and out of phone and drag and drop music files onto card. Have not purchased/tried card because trying to decide between 1 gig and 2 gig -- ScanDisk site says only 1 gig card is compatible with CU500 -- Has anyone successfully used 2 gig? How about drag and drop direct to card method?

1GB is currently the largest card the CU500 will accept. The phone will not recognize a 2GB card.

I don't currently have a cable. I've been swapping my Sandisk microSD card between the phone and card reader (with adapter), but that makes me a little nervous. The card is rediculously small, and I'm more than a little afraid I'm going to break it or shove it in the slot wrong and damage the connections or something.

I'm also afraid of buying the wrong USB cable off of ebay, but I'm too cheap to pay Cingular's price. What's a (cheap) guy to do, right?

I purchased an OEM cable for my LG CU500 from Amazon.com that works fine.
Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LDM7MK/1 05-9520772-8448458

Forget the cheapy software though, you can get a cool suite of software from LG's Australian site for the LG TU500:

Also bought a Kingston 1GB card - did not work, returned it for the Sandisk 1GB, and no problems at all. Hope this helps! 🙂

I have 2 cards a 1GB Kingston Card that works sometimes when I put in the magic code: 277634#*# and then go to the mass storage number 4 I think it is. Then went out and bought a SanDisk Card which worked fine.

I can't get a MP3 to set as ring tone. when file was too large I cut it down and not it says "Not acceptable Content" which sounds like some Konglish crap for "we're too lazy to make your phone work the way we led you to believe."

Does that USB cable charge the phone?

I think that cingy's USB data cable doesn't charge the phone because they don't want you to use this phone for high-speed data teathering to the phone.
