Memory card/MP3 Help

Hey I had some major issues even getting my memory card to work. I tried it with the USB and couldnt get anything, so I tried it with the adapter that came with it, still nothing. Then found the 277634#*# thing along with my USB cable and got it to come upsaying 'DO NOT Disconnect During Transfer' on my phone screen and I attempt to drag my iTunes MP3s to the Removable Drive (FSmile but it says I need to format my card, then I try to format it and it doesnt work. Any idea how to format it if I try and the computer says it cant? Is it my computer or the fact that I bought my Micro SD 1g card from Target and not Cingular, do only certain cards work?
