should i return it??
I love the phone, but the call volume is horrible. I can barely hear the person on the other end, and they can barely hear me,..then at times in the convo. the speaker goes silent, and i cant hear anything. The reception is also terrible,...i went from 4-5 bars of service in my house with my Se,..to 1 bar of sevivce with this phone!! I really dont know what to do... return it, switch to another phone?? I dont really need the 3g,..as it isnt in my area, and i dont use the cingular tv or radio. ALSO, i kinda want a phone that has memory for music, and a data cable included,...maybe a nokia 6682?????

Try this. It worked for me since 3G isn't quite close enough to me to get a signal.
press 277634#*#
then go through the menu:
5. modem setting
2. network mode
1. network mode
2. 2g only
Then hit your back button and go to:
7.GSM Speech Ver
Select 1.EFR Speech Pref.
Then power cycle your phone. If you are still having the same problems then you need to exchange your phone for another CU500.

wats power cycle??
...
ok, i did everything you said to do, but what exactly did I do? and what will it change?
...
Well, you changed from 3G to 2G so it won't try to search for 3G, which helped me get better reception, made the battery last longer and also when I go to MobiRadio, it doesn't buffer all the time like it use to. Now, I'm not sure what EFR stands for, but it makes the earpiece volume at a steady, louder level instead of the person your talking to going in and out.

Power cycle means to turn your phone off and then back on again. 😉
