MP3 music to mono bluetooth headset?

Is it possible to send mp3 music via bluetooth to a mono (1 ear piece) bluetooth headset. I know it's possible with the new stereo bluetooth headphones but those are too bulky and expensive.
If this is posible, can someone tell me how? I tried sending music via bluetooth but I keep getting a message saying the bluetooth is already in use. What am I doing wrong?

Bluetooth operates under different profiles. The usual cell phone headsets operate under the "Hands Free" profile (HFP). The MP3 player uses the A2DP profile to communicate with a "compatible" headset.

So when you pair a normal mono headset with the phone, the HFP profile is active. When you play the music, it tries to use the A2DP profile, and reports that bluetooth is in use... (at least that is my understanding).

Also, if you meant that you are trying to use the "Send via" option from the "Options" menu, then you are talking about yet another profile, OBEX, which is used to send the mp3 file to a laptop, or another device. Again, if the phone is already paired up with a headset, you won't be able to send the MP3 file via Bluetooth.
