Music skipping?

I've noticed that on my a990, the music skips ever so slightly about 1 or 2 times per song. It's quick, but just enough to get on your nerves when it does it so often. I encoded my mp3s into WMAv9. Anyone else notice this?

I just talked to Samsung on the phone and they said that there is not enough RAM to play the music without skipping while the phone is closed! He was a Level 2 tech and I am going to call tomorrow to talk to a Level 3 tech to make sure there is no fix. If there is no fix then I am seriously going to consider trying to get a different phone. I mean, who wants to walk around listening to music with the phone OPEN all the time?

What size card to you have? And what bitrate do you use for your WMAs?

I called Samsung and when I told them that I had a 1GB micro SD card they told me that only up to 512MB was fully supported for the a990 (which is contrary to what their site says).

I have a 1 GB card.

As far as bitrate....I really don't know. How do I check it? I will let you know.

Just highlight the song on your phone, push the right softkey and select Song Info. It should say there. If it is 128 or higher I will be very jealous. And you're SURE it doesn't skip, even with the phone closed?

Most of my songs are 192kbps. I found only a few that were 128 but I have none that are less than that.

Now when my phone is open and I start my music player.....and then the songs starts to play and I close the phone, it pauses for a sec but the continues with no problems after that.

I listen to my music player everyday closed, and once it is closed it NEVER skips.

If I can find my digital camera, I can try to take a picture of the song info and send it to you if you like.

Ok I am officially completely confused. I have traded out my phone and my memory card trying to fix this music skipping problem. I've tried synching the phone to get my music, and just putting them directly on the card via USB jump drive. I've tried encoding them at high and low bitrates. I've even called Samsung and they are clueless. I wish we could figure out what the difference is.

Do you use windows media player to transfer your songs? I bought the music essentials kit and I follow that route. It has worked fine for me.
