Hello,

I have been looking at buying the UX-245 from alltel. I just wanted to know if anyone has tried using BitPim with this phone over the bluetooth connection. I would like to transfer ringers, pictures, etc.

Thanks,
Bob

good luck my-friend. I have a USB cable from an older phone and the UX-245 doesn't seem to be supported.

What's worse is, I use US-Cellular and they feel the need to lock down the service code uniqely for every phone. It used to be that you could browse the filesystem and look at the nv-ram area and find the code to unlock it, but with this UX-245 phone, the /nvm folder shows no files or sub-folders. Perhaps this is because someone at bitpim hasn't figured out how to mess with this model yet.

Either way, I'm guessing if a direct connection fails, your bluetooth won't be any more successful until someone supports this phone officially.

Even my Susteen DataPilot software doesn't support this phone yet.

Good news for you- I just got and hooked up a bluetooth adapter to test it out and it does connect up and I can view the filesystem. Whenever the developers add official support, you should be good to go. Meanwhile, if you're careful, you can grab or place the appropriate files manually- though if you're not grabbing camera images or playing with ringers, I'm not sure who utilital that will be for you.

Yes, I just found this out when I got the phone and I was playing with the connection over Bluetooth. I was able to grab pictures of the phone, but I found out that on LG's site that only Verison's 5300 will support MP3 ringtones. The ux-245 (I have this phone, Alltel) and the ax-245 (U.S Cellular) do not support MP3 ringtones. They only support ringtones bought over the phone.

I also tried downloading midi tones to the phone, but when the ringtone was downloaded, it locked into the phone. It also wouldn't accept anymore ringtones. When I removed the ringtone, it still showed up in the media section, and I had to edit the lgsound.dat file on the phone to remove it. When I put the ringtone back on, the phone would not play the tone when a...

I was able to get the mp3s to physically play in the media list, but selecting them as a ringer just plays the 'hot on the roof' or whatever it is- even though it shows the mp3's name as selected as the ringer.
