Yeah yeah yeah, everyone is crying that it is already out of date without even making the market, and to not get long contracts.

So what is the alternative?

What do you see happening? A new HP series using this as a bridge on the market the way Palm used the 650 Treo to placate people until the 700 was completed?

No contract means you pay FULL retail on this phone, which makes no sense. 😕

Contract and a newer better option comes out, so what? Pick from the best that is for sale, not the best that is in the rumormill. You just look like a douchebag if you are waiting around for a phone that will trump all technology for two or more years. 🤣

Believe me, you go buy a 65xx and people see you have REAL gps on your phone, al...

I couldn't agree more. Clap clap Nuff said. I'll take it the way it comes. I don't want a fricken Berry 'cause I have always had an Ipaq of some kind and use the Win OS. So what about the slow wireless, I mostly use the cradle for transfers anyway. If it is improved in a year with something better I'll buy that one too. As for the GPS I can finally dump my clunky power consuming CF antenna and am really looking forward to doing that. In fact I have already purchased two large capacity batteries, travel cables, a couple of 2gb mini sd's and a cool case so I am ready to go when it goes up for sale.

Oh and bought screen protectors too. As a long time PDA user I have learned about the stylus eventually scarring and fogging up the screen. I know it's got a flip up protector but I hate those dorky Capt. Kirk communicator flip ups.

The 6900 has essentially the same form factor as the already released 6500 series. I picked up most of the stuff at www.thepocketsolution.com. Also at www.extreampda.com The prices seemed reasonable. Just look up accessories for the hw6940. I don't remember what I paid for the mini sd's but bought them at amazon. Could be cheaper somewhere else but had a amazon gift certificate. Batteries are the same for the 6900 as the 6500 as well. In fact most of the accessories are interchangeable with the 6500 series. Looked up the part numbers on the UK HP site where it is already for sale.

cool thanks!! I totally forgot about the 6500 being the same. butthen again I wasn't sure what kind of stuff they had for the 6500. One complaint about hp and dmicrosft is the lack of accesories. Compared to treo.

First picking what is for sale at this price range and not waiting a few months is idiotic.

Secondly I buy tech stuff that has all the latest so that I'm not that far in the hole when walking out the door.

One year contracts that you pay this supposed retail price? It only cost me $50 more for my 551 and in a year I was not at the mirsey of Cingular, trust me they respond better when you have one year and when your out of your one year. So to pay a tiny bit more to not be screwed over by the 2 year deal is worth it.

The reason many of us want all the new tech is cause we need it, Speed= more production which = more money. Also we dont have to get the newest phone add the fact this is not just a phone it is a combo phone /pda so ...

I don't know if it will turn out this way but HP says they will be selling an unlocked version on their website. If you click on the 6500 it has them available for Cingular and unlocked. If it turns out they brand them for T-Mobile, T-Mobile is one of the very few that will unlock the phone for you 90 days after purchase. There are also web sites in the UK that advertise unlocking services for HP's. I haven't tried them out though.

People throw that BS at me all the time "more productivity" that is a lie, it means you are more accessable and less likely to be able to have a free moment to yourself. It also means you can look busy while checking your Myspace account 🤣

PDA compulsion/addiction is real. I stopped using my Treo and went to a bare bones 'free' Cingular phone while my screen was being repaired and found that I can actually enjoy my weekends for once.

I am a reformed techie, my productivity has not gone down by the loss of the PDA, nor has it gone up. Life existed before PDA and will do so after. My bro however just got an 8125 and he takes it everywhere, answers every text, every email and is stuck to it like glue, he has no life whatsoever and n...

well if i might add my 2 cents, i believe that PDA's do increase productivity for those who dont have access to a PC while vacationing, etc. Its not so much that it takes your life away by having to manage it...its your choice if you want to manage it, and when...remember theres always a silent button 😉

Well being more productive does mean more work which means more money. unless ur a 9-5er then it doesn't matter. You do know you can turn off ur phone or screen calls or put it on silent.

As for pruductivity not going up or down I find that hard to believe and with out the pda how woudl you be able to keep track of your production?? 🙂 Also in busineess if your production stays the same then you either have to cut costs to keep or increase your profits other wise non-increase in production over a period of time = less money. Inflation creeps in, also non growth means your competioon is beating you and your actually decreasing.

Also there was life before FIRE but the life sucked.

🤣 I said people could *argue* that there was more productivity, but I have never seen it actually proven. I mean, for the last 5 years, using PDAs and project managing teams for Cisco, IBM, Accenture, Peoplesoft, Yahoo and even in the entertainment industry. I have not seen a mark'd improvement at all in productivity, but rather increased emails that are written in shorthand, and then having to clarify that as well because even though you have pocket outlook, there are technological limitations that causes increased communications to convey a point.

Where I have seen more productivity is not in the sales, or main technical staffs, but just the IT department.

There is a theory they teach you in business school. When you are always ...

I like your points. I think one of the things are the prople are afraid to fale or do something wrong, so they over compensate and check in way too much. Also when someoen does waste your time with morinic messages in ranmled in corehertent forms you and I have to tell them not to waste your time and to be succinct. ALthough bing in the real estate business I pretty much have to hold peoples hands and babysit them. Course there are the moron ,other agents, attorneies and mortgage brokers that if they had emailed me or call the problem would not have arrisen. What is it with people who contact you for stupid things but neglect to contact youfor important stuff, I guess Murphy's Law. But I guess I'll see if this phone helps or hurts me or ca...
