Now they are saying it will be the end of this month. Of course in July they said at the end of that month. In the beginning of August they said the middle of August. I give up but understand this is what HP is known for from what I read on other forums. Again what makes me mad is that it has been available in Europe for almost two months now and other than the number and some map software it is the same damn thing. The hold up must be other than problems but rather business reasons... maybe to try to sell off more of the 6500 series because why buy that given the 6900 capabilities. Maybe Cingular is the hold up who knows.

It could be that cingy ordered a little too many as they did with the 6500, and theres a backup sur to manufacture, who knows? But whatever it is, I'm sure the wait will be worth it 🙂

I think it is worth it too. It is exactly what I am looking for. I just hope they don't don't run out like they did in the UK when it went on sale. Backed some people up for a few more weeks.

I doubt we will see this thing until January so don't hold your breath people. Cingular has an awful track record for red tape approvals, dropped calls (I drop 40% or more of my calls in the Hollywood area), poor connect time (takes up to 20 seconds sometimes to hear a ring), non-existent data networks, and Nazi-like billing tactics. Miss a bill by more than 24 hours? they disconnect my $700 cellphone.

I broke my Treo back in January and have been waiting for this phone. I imagine I will keep using my Nokia 8801 until that point. Quite frankly, I am happy to no longer have a digital leash, and that stupid pda use compulsion.

By this January, HTC will release something new (Excalibur) and we will be hearing about more HP vapourware iPaq...

I agree, by the time it actually comes out, it will be so far behind (technology wise) that nobody will want one. I am already beginning to lose intrest. 🙄

Call me crazy but I still want this thing. I will likely dump my T mobile account shortly after I get it as Cingular does have better coverage in the areas I travel too. But will still get the unlocked version. TestShoot you have peaked my interest. What is this HTC excalibur??? Does it have the same stuff and run windows mobile? I have to stay with that OS.

Hey testshoot! Looked up the hp6900 with the FCC and it looks like they are the ones that built the 6900. The records with the FCC approval show HTC making the requests for approval then asking later if ADP could act on their behalf in the approval process. Sounds like the Excaliber is a 6900 in a different box without the GPS.
