Guys,

Take a 870 and put it in the VZW leather case..

Now dial normal speed 732-543-6789 for instance.

You will get 7453-5464-847438 and more.

The design is totally hosed.. The keypad is too sensitive and the plastic cover presses against the other keys constantly..

What a total freaking mess..

No joke on this one, you have to try it..

You have to dial like 1 digit at a time and wait a second for the plastic to return to it's position..

God I hate this stuff, Dont you wish they would just give it to users or me to test, it would save them millions..

Theatermax,

With all due respect, I have not experienced any of the problems you have had with this phone. You have posted your negative opinion several times and that’s fine. That's your experience with the phone.

Personally, I quite like the phone, and for my needs it works very well. I find the voice quality to be excellent, and the phone works great.

I do not use the Verizon leather case. I carry the phone in my pocket or a pouch type case. I cannot duplicate the problem you describe with the keypad. It works just fine for me.

I do not think this is a "POS" phone, as you state. I think it's a very nice phone, and hope people considering this phone will go into a store and try one for themselves. The reviews here should be g...

Can't understand why you continue harping at the phone as though you have a personal vendetta or something 🙂

What you describe seems like a problem with badly designed VZW holster not the a870. Actually I really like the keypad, especially spacing and tactile feel.

Never experienced any of the problems you are crying about including voice qality and reception (both are totally fine).

Tested again today to 5 different people , some VZW employees and all agreed teh voice quality is below anything they have ever heard.

No vendetta, the phone just stinks..

Stop fighting this and do some real testing.

Call someone and ask them what they think and then call them from a 8300 or similiar and have them flash back and forth.

It stinks !

I made a few calls to a friend (on his landline) switching back and forth between a RAZR and an A870. He couldn't tell which phone was which. Nobody I've talked to on mine has complained about the voice quality at all. To my ears, it sounds just fine. I called and left messages on my home answering machine from a RAZR and my A870, and again, they both sound fine to me.

Obviously, you don't think it sounds good, and that's fine. Don't buy the phone. But, obviously, to many people, it sounds just fine. So I say let end users be the judge of the sound quality. If they don't like it, they won't buy it. If it sounds good to them, well, then let it go....

And, I've tested it and the Razr's audio is second to none. Most phones have good audio...

Sounds like there is no problem with the phone as a model, just some folks have had a problem with an individual phone.
Another idea, is if these folks have had any problem with the transmitted audio, they should also try a known Bluetooth headset, and make the same comparison. It seems to me that the issue is individual phones, not the model as a whole. This should give some good additinal information as to whether it's an individual phone's microphone or a electronics problem.
Also, a wired headset. It's completely possible that an oxidized contact on the 2.5mm jack could be the only culprit, and it could go away after one or two insertio...
