Home-made ringtones
first, go to http://joequincy.googlepages.com/Samsung.zip to get drivers (I'd recommend putting them on your desktop) then go to bitpim.org and download the latest version.
next, connect your phone either by usb (there's a cable pack, it's the older VCast Media Kit... but it has a driver CD, so you may as well use those drivers) or bluetooth. (instructions here: http://www.howardforums.com/printthread.php?t =1067179 ) and install the drivers.
For creating ringtones, I recommend Audacity. It's free, and it works great for audio editing (make sure you get the LAME MP3 encoder from the site as well.
To put them on your phone, use BitPim, make sure you're on "Other CDMA Phone", go to View -> View Filesystem, and a new option will appear in the left pane. Open that, and open the new file list.
It should have a single folder, open that up then open "brew", then open the 16425 folder (I don't remember the exact number, but it's the longer of the two options)... then you should see a folder called "mr"
drag and drop your new ringtones into this folder.
for best results, they should be 64 kbps, and under 300 kb... mono, of course.
let me know if this doesn't work for you, I will update with fixes.
