and this phone raises a question in my mind: asn't it similar to my 3-year-old 8200? guess that just goes to show how good my 8200 really was...

your 8200 has an external color caller id. thats about it.

and since your 8200 technology has gotten cheaper to produce so it is quite possible that this could be just a small downgrade w/o the color caller id...

I'll tell you what this is: It's pathetic.

Sanyo uses it's classic three year old design, then cheapens it up with an STN display, cheap plastics, and an ugly orange monochrome display.

This phone is a poor excuse for a new release. What a pile of ****.

Im not sure what Sanyo's problems have been. They have made some of the most reliable phones in the past 5 years, but I don't know whats going on with them lately. Hopefully their merge with Nokia's CDMA dept will push them in a new direction...

The thing is only $199.99 full price! Geezus, the 8200 was $279.99. The looks aren't that bad, in fact they are at least getting better. Now the lighting colors are a lttle quirky but so what?? It's cheap, and it's a high-quality Sanyo!

Don't let the uninformed get to you....

Besides, Sanyo has not released their other handsets yet. If they had been paying attention, they know that Sanyo has a lot more coming up.

You're right... Sanyo has some really nice coming out soon (8400, Katana). Then people will quit making fun of this one!

it's not that bad. i mean, it's a decent upgrade to the 2300.. nice camera phone for kids at least.. and it comes in the pink, blue, "expresso" and silver, at least thats what we're carryign. i dont mind it too much for the basic camera phone, but the camera on it i have to say is not the best quality ive seen. i still think the 8100 even has a better quality camera. oh well.. what do u expect for $50?
