got type v few days ago same problem .... (just trying out the phone so far)
they way i was able to do it:
go to contact,
select name you want to set up as speed dial,
press edit,
scroll down to the phone # field,
press options (bottom right),
select 1 (set speed dial)
select your speed dial location.
