Actually, turned out to be simple but very frustrating. Found thru various Google searches that one must have version 3 firmware for this to work. Phone was brand new, but the store let me leave with version 1 firmware. Went back, got V3 flashed, and worked immediately. Store gave me "Well, we're not allowed to open boxes before sale". I pointed out they could have at least told me it was old FW and upgraded at time of purchase. I then took the tech over to a salesman, asked the sales guy if this phone will play MP3s, and he said "Yes". Blank stares all around. And the VZ & LG documentation, printed and on line, says nothing about this, not even how to check what version is installed. Oh, and VZ Tech Support swore to me that the VX8300 will not play MP3s, will not do BT stereo, and there is no new firmware. Sigh......
