I am impressed with all the functions of this phone except the voice command when used with the phone open and also when used with bluetooth. It does not seem to recognize my voice even when i went thru the voice training function on the phone. Does anyone have any suggestions, comments or help? I am still in 15day trial period. All else considered it is still a very good phone.

Thank god...finally someone else noticed this. I'm using a Jabra BT150 with my 8300. I was about to start a thread on this. It's quite frustrating whether I'm walking in the street or even in my car.

Perfect example today...I had my air conditioner on medium in my car and the phone couldn't get my voice command to call my dad. All I said was "Call Dad Cell". First it told me the requested operation could not be completed with the flip closed, not once but twice!! Then I tried again and the phone said I wasn't saying a recognizable command. Then the phone registered I said call dad cell and I said yes when it asked me and then it got stuck on asking me yes or no. Ughhhhh!!!! I gave up and dialed via voice dial.

I'm also still in my 15 ...

I have the RAZR 3C and the voice dialing works very well with bluetooth, but I am not satisfied with the keypad and just in general and have been considering the 8300. This is bad news but I wonder if it will be better when version 2.0 of the OS finally comes out.

I exchanged my 8300 for a silver v3m and couldnt be happier with my decision. Reception is superior as well. I did the seem edits through p2k and changed what I wanted and bluetooth is already superior. The voice command has worked flawlessly over the past 2 days already.

i am using the moto hs850. i just push the button once and say call, the phone asks a prompt, I say the name, the phone repeats the name and dial unless i end.

I was driving around town, not on the freeway. I haven't tested the headset enough to know if it has the echo that others have reported esp at high volume

I just got the plantronics a320, going to give it a try. also spoke to verizon rep, when pressing the voice command button, say the word "call", then say the name you want to call. It worked at the Vz store, I will have to try it myself. Otherwise very happy with the phone.

I used the voice command all day yesterday with my bluetooth and had no problems as long as I used the name and not try to tell it numbers. It never got even close when I spoke numbers.

It had trouble with the name guillermo.

Yes I guess it needs some getting use to, voice command is about 90% correct for me at this time. As for the plantronics A320, it is a vast improvement from the motorola bluetooth i originally started with, i recommend the A320, clarity on both sides and comfort. I tried it about 12 phone calls so far in buildings and outside. So far so good !

How do you do the voice training function on the phone???? I have pushed every menu button and didn't see anything for this.

I fully agree, the voice recognition thing on this thing is awful.... they should just let you record the names yourself because the machine surely does not pronouse any of the na...
