Battery life?

Pardon me if this is a dumb question, but I'm not an electronics guy. Does the quality of your house's electrical wiring effect the charging of your battery? Or does where you live in relation to towers affect your battery life?
To explain: I got a VX8300 4-6 weeks ago. I live in the country about 20 miles west of Peoria Illinois....so it's rural, but hardly out in the sticks like rural Montana or Alaska. Initially, this phone needed recharged every other day or every 3 days even with little or no use. Then at the beginning of this month I took the phone to Arizona with me (I was job hunting). For 8 days I was away from home, charging the phone in motel rooms or on the highway with my vehicle charger, and the phone's battery life was exte...
