Music transfer question from old guy

Ok, bear with me. I was deciding between the VX8300 and the 8600.
I know this will sound wierd, but the fingerprints on the front of the 8600 will just drive me nuts, so I think I am gonna just go with the 8300.....

Question. Instead of buying the silly vcast kit from Verizon, can I just get a USB card reader and just load my music onto the SD card that way? Or am I missing something?

Another reason I want the 8300, is I still want a 2.5mm jack to give me a nice selection fo earbuds, I want to listen to music on my motorcycle.....

Any other opinions on why I should get the 8600 over the 8300..... I have been to the Verizon store freakin 3 times...... its a tough decision, but I think I am making the right choice....

Yes, you can do it that way.

I found the verizon media pkg on ebay for 20 bucks, it has the data cable and a fairly nice set of earbuds. You can listen to music as well as answer calls with these. Easily worth the money IMO. Makes it much easier than swapping memory cards.

I haven't noticed a plethora of ear buds for the 2.5 mm plug. Most folks I know use an adapter so they can use their existing MP3 player ear buds, or they use BlueTooth. I've heard mixed things about BT on this forum, so haven't really felt the need to explore that option.

If I get one of the newer BT enabled helmets that are coming out now, I might change my mind on that.

When I ride longer distances on my bike, I use an adaper to plug in my helmet speakers. D...
