DUN without using Verizon????

In the past I was able to connect my LG VX6000 to my laptop and connect to the internet using my ISP (not verizon). I have just upgraded my phone to the VX8300. Can I still connect to the internet on my laptop via the VX8300 using my local ISP and not verizon??? Verizon tells me that I can't...but I'm not sure if they understood what I was asking. They said that I can only connect to the internet on my laptop if I subscribe to the $60/mo plan. Is this true???? I don't connect a whole lot using my cell, but I would like to be able to when needed.

Thanks ahead of time!

Thanks for all the response! Evidently, not many folks use this forum. While my local verizon rep told me that I could not connect to the internet without purchasing the $60/mo plan, I will confirm that I CAN connect to the internet via the VX8300 using my local ISP to connect (verizon said I couldn't even do that). It was no problem and did this with no hacks. So, I guess I have answered my own question. Hopefully this helps someone else who may have this question.

How did you manage that please? There was a LOT of discussion about that very issue months ago when the 8300 first came out and a lot of pissed off people because you couldn't do that without a lot of hacks. Its why I never upgraded from a 6000 myself, even though VZ will give me a 8300 free. If you found an easy way, please post it here. You can do a search of DUN on this forum and you'll find lots of discussion. That's probably why no one aswered you this time.
