well i just got the 8300 on the 12th, and i also got the essantials kit and the micro sd card. i installed the software on my computer plugged in my phone and put song on to the memory card and was set.BUT now when i do it, i plug it in and it makes the connection sound then when i hit start sync and it has a message that says can not connect, please check usb cord. everything is plugged in but ti wont connect...

This is a shot in the dark, but try plugging the USB cable into the back of your PC instead of a front panel connector or even worse, a hub. There's something in the manual about needing a certain amount of power. Either that or maybe you should have the phone's charger plugged in as well.

i have the exact same problem- the first time i tried it, it worked perfectly and then thats it... i tried 3 different computers... i think- im not sure but i think it has to do with the new media player (11)... since i installed it, it stopped working on one computer- but the rest of the computers have the regular media player (10) and it still doesnt work...maybe theres any new drivers or something idk..

i know that you have the essentials kit, but there is another way of moving the music to the card without using the kit. try what i typed below and see if that works. good luck!

i have found a way to get mp3's onto the phone without purchasing them through vcast or using verizon's music essentials kit (30.00 at stores)
first, press menu. then pres 0 6 times. this will bring you to "services" menu. scroll down..and select number 11. (music setting) change the setting to mp3 enable.
go and purchase a MICRO SD memory card. make sure you don't buy the mini sd. the vx8100 used this type of card, but it wont work with this phone. the micro sd card will come with a mini sd adapter. sa...
