Bug in 8300 - Call Drops when Answering - This is Bad !!!

theatermax

So , yes I have adopted the 8300 as one of my favorites now for a few weeks.

We have 4 of them in the group of friends and we all are experiencing this call drop issue.

It's happening enough to make this phone a real problem.

What is happening , is when the phone is ringing and you press send every once in a while , the call just drops. The other person sometimes is connected and can supposedly hear me but there is no one there and it drops.

It's a weird one and anyone with heavy usage is bound to see this.

Who has seen this happen so far ?

By the way, on all our other phones we have never seen this here ever..

What to do ??

Dude you kill me. For such a Motorola fan you seem to spend quite a bit of time on this forum. We get it already that you like Motorola. Enough is enough. I am a firefighter and we are switching our radios away from Motorola. They suck! Our Motorola pagers suck, but we are stuck with them. The reviews on the E815 have been very good. Wow they finally have a decent phone for once. How about all the others that are junk?
I am sure LG ...

Ok, back to this post. Sorry for the above rant. I would take the phone in and have it checked. It has never happened to me. Might be somthing simple.

You missed his point ALL 4 have the same problem! By the way, some girls here sure get their panties in a bundle easilly! Look at the reviews for the E815. Some good. Some poor. No one is complaining about the poor reviews. It's only a phone. The guy asked a question. Relax and get a life.
I repeat. Look a...

Im not missing his point, point being there may be some bad phones out there...Samsung LG Motorola Audiovox can all have this same issue, has nothing to do with manufacturer. OUR problem is with a name like "Motoluvr" you are the meaning of the word troll, why in the world would you hang out in the LG 8300 forum to say the same thing everyday. You tell him to get a life, that sure takes some nerve. I love my 8300, but if i did have an issue i would sure get it replaced ASAP. Considering I sell LG and Moto phones I sure wouldnt go saying Moto is better than another brand, Ive seen the same issues with both....how bout you get a life and let us try to help the 8300 owners work through there problem.

The LG is a better phone than the 815 IMO... Besides stereo bluetooth, thinner profile, mp3 player, stereo speakers, it also has the NEW Customizable flash UI...

BTW, 8300 has a higher rating... ๐Ÿ˜

Reception is improved as well as voice quality..

If your phone is set to answer when you flip it open, pressing the send key will create a 4-5 second pause before the call gets picked up. You may think that the call dropped. Try setting it to answer when you press any key.

that was going to be my suggestion. Had an older couple come in just yesterday with this problem. They had gone in the menu and played around. After they were done they couldn't remember what they changed or where they went. It was sorta like going to the movie store, going in to the back room, picking out your favorite movie, then going to the store and buying lotion and paper towels. Then getting home and forgetting what you were gonna do when you got there!

Same thing happened to me. Then, I realized that the default answer mode is answer on flip open, so hitting the send button is like hitting the flash button on a landline phone, it hangs up on them. If you want it to answer by hitting the send key, then you will need to go to settings & tools > call settings > answer options.

Wow, you are right!! Did not even think about that since I always set my phone up that way anyways. Nice catch.

theatermax, please let us know if this took care of the problem or not.

Thanks

Nooo - It's set to answer key only - I am a very power user if you have seen my posts..

It's a software bug and the network together failing to establish a 2 channel link - The techs are telling me they are hearing this a few times a day..

Found another bug tonight as well- If you test message alot which we do , most of us set the auto save off so no messages get saved.. Try this and check and see, some messages just randomly get left in the sent box - It's a big also..

The phone needs a software rev. believe me..

How about the earpiece volume ? It's 3-5 DB lower than other phones.. Yes they are all this way.. They need to fix this !

Yes, the evil corporate robber barrons are torturing us by selling us bad phones. What deceivers! All they want in torturing us is to see what lousy devices they can cobble together and induce us to like, making a huge profit as a result.

How wicked! They must be stopped!

Maybe we can elect unbiased watchdog, mellowpaul (or MotoLuvr), to represent us, since he has been suspicious "all along."

I'm so thankful for his ever-watchful, ever-vigilant eye, without which we would all buy those awful LG phones and perish!

I vote for mellowpaul! Anyone else?

(You were "on the fence" - ha! That's a good one.)

You have got to be a pessimist! I guess for you it's alway partly cloudy - the jar is half empty - we are already losing, etc. I have not taken a scientific survey but it appears that over 90% of the people who have purchased this phone - love it! Perhaps another 5% either got a bad phone or is not using it properly - finally, the last 5% would not like this phone even if they were giving a gold bar away with it. You fall into the last 5%!

I got this phone as well and still have a couple days left before my trial period runs out. I was wondering if and when a new software version is available for this phone if it'll be possible to update my existing phone or if I should return my current handset and wait for an 8300 with updated software preloaded.

Yes, I would imagine there might be a software update in the near future. It seems like there always is, shortly after a phone hits the market. If there is, you take your phone to the VZW store and the techs will flash it with the upgrade.
