i hear about people switching phones all the time, from 8100, to the razor, to the a950, back to the 8100..... my question is, how do you do this without signing a new contract or the verizon people telling you that you have to wait months before you can get an upgrade

well some peeps are just in there 14 day trail period, they try one phone dont like it, and try another and settle on it. some crazy peeps like myself, buy just about every phone that comes down the pipe at FULL retail price, hence my shoe box full of phones that i can switch between if i choose. of course if it just happens that my ne2 is up, or promotional pricing on the wife line is available, i use that. you just have allot of fone fanatics on here with several phones.

i will buy the 8300 too and hope for the best, sounds like its a tad more customizable which is cool.

Yeah, alot of us just buy phones at full-retail, then switch ESN's back and forth online depending on what phones we feel like using at the time.

Mary, how do you switch ESN's back and forth on-line? Also, does it take effect immediately, or is there some delay? Thanks.

Log into "MY ACCOUNT" on verizonwireless.com and from your main account page on the bottom left it says "activate phone". Choose that, then it will ask you if you want to activate new equipment or existing. Choose existing, then follow the steps. Once you put in your info (which phone #, ESN and reason), you have to hit *228 option 1 on your phone, just like you do when you first program it. It only takes a few seconds and your up and running.

Do you have 14 from the time you buy your first new phone... or does the 14 day trial start over when you switch to a new phone.

How many times can you swith phones using your 14 day trial period?

a lot of peopel work for some sorta of channel, direct or indirect so we get some perks when it comes to phones. I for example get them at cost. Verizon retails the razr at 419, but my current cost to get one is like 259. usually the mark up isn't that high, usually about a 50-70 diffrence. So i buy the phones at cost, guessing the cost on the 8300 around 225. So i will buy it, mail in the rebate, and end up paying about 175 for it, and don't let people tell you otherwise, you can use the rebates without signing a contract i have done it about 7 times. Then i will simply toss my razr that is only a few months old on ebay and recoop most of that 175. Or I could just upgrade, both my lines have been eligible for some time now, you should see t...
