Since you have already used this phone. Can you find out why the viewing of text messages on the outside has been disabled, and whether or not Verizon plans to enable this feature in a software flash? Also, whats up with using the speakerphone with the phone closed?

I have used it, i don't have it. All I can tell you is I hope the version i used was not the final software version before launch. If it was then not text viewing on outside display. Speakerphone with phone opened, bluetooth version 1.1. I am hoping they could change some of this by launch, this is a demo line i played with about three or four weeks ago, so maybe some of that will get worked out. I did like the phone though, pictures don't do it justice it is pretty slick looking, much more business like than the blue 8100 and still feels just as solid in your hand eventhough it is slimmer. I hope text on the outside is put back on there with a software update, but who really knows until the final version is out next month. Either way i can'...

To answer for him, no clue why they did that. The lg rep didn't know for sure if you could do it or not. So we sent a text to him to see if you could read it on the outside, and you could not.

ahhh ok thanks for the info. Last important question for me.....Do you know if you could still play MP3's like you could with V.7 of the VX8100?

don't know I started to go into the programming while I was playing with it and hit the wrong button and the phone reset. The lg rep looked at me weird for turning the phone off so I didn't want to do it again. So not quite sure but I highly doubt it they will leave that on there again.

ok then, looks like we will just have to wait and see. Do you know if Infomanager still says that it will be coming when the vx8100's are sold out, or is there a date now?

I know that we havent been abole to order any 8100s for a couple of days now, says their sold out, hopefully this means they will be releasing the 8300 soon.

hate to bring bad news but i checked the northeast warehouse today and it said we still had 20,000 some 8100's in stock plus we got a bunch in our shipment today. if i had to guess i'd say mid june. but thats just an estimation. i also don't think they'll ever announce an official date. it will be different per region and probable also per store.
