Bluetooth pairing with BMW

I have a new X3 BMW and trying to get the phone to connect to the vehicles bluetooth but the phone keeps saying no device found. Anyone with success or suggestions??

You also need to have the car search for the phone and enter the "passkey" number -- which should be in your owner's manual. FYI: The 8300 isn't on BMW's "approved" list. In my '04 530i it pairs and works, but the phone book didn't download automatically. After a whole lot of time messing around with different options, I was able to send individual phonebook entries as "vcard" to the car and they are now displayed.

Thanks, Once I figured out how to get the car in discovery mode, it worked. It even imported the phonebook.
