How to get true stereo from Bluetooth A2DP output

DaDuck

By default the Cingular 3125 is set to send out a mono signal at relatively low quality audio via the A2DP Bluetooth. To change this you will need to make a few changes to the registry. If registry mods are not your cup-a-tea, you're outa luck.

The info below is quoted directly from Andrei's post at:

[HKLM_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Blueto oth/A2DP/Settings]

Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1)
1 - Join Stereo (Mono)
0 - Real Stereo

To improve Audio Quality modify the following keys:

Dword, Value name=BitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)
Modify, Value MaxSupportedBitPool; Value data=4...

I'm using "PHM Registry Editor 0.70" (freeware) that I downloaded from here:

For the "The Ultimate Roundup of Registry Editors .." go to:

DaDuck... I downloaded PHM Registry Editor ("Smartphone 2002,2003 (ARM/PXA)") and successfully installed on my 3125. Works fine to navigate and display registry keys and values.

However, when I use PHM Tools-Backup to try to backup the registry, I get "Error Unable to perform backup". I wanted to backup before modifying anything. Do you have this problem?

Thanks.

No, I did not have a problem with using PHM Registry Editor to back up my registry. It was the first thing I did with it.

Some thoughts that come to mind:
- maybe it is trying to save to a write-protected directory/folder .. so try saving to a different directory/folder, maybe in "My Documents"
- maybe you need to unlock the phone first .. although that itself requires some registry mods .. and I know I did not need to since unlocking the phone was what I did immediately after backing up my registry the first time
- PHM Registry Editor itself is not perfect software .. mine has frozen up a couple times .. so reboot and try again

Thanks for the comeback, DaDuck... sorry I'm so slow getting back. I tried your suggestions, but same result. I seem not to be able to do any changes with PHP... not only will it not execute backup, it won't let me comit any reg changes... get: "error- unable to perform this operation" when I try to Save a reg key change. So appears to be a security issue.

Probably your last suggestion is the key... unlock the phone. I downloaded the unlock tool "SDA Application Unlock.exe". Moved the exe to the phone's Program Files with ActiveSync Explorer and opened it on the phone. Got "SDA_ApplicationUnlock is not a valid Windows CE application"... so seems Security is blocking this too.... or is there another way to install/run the unlock app?...
