Mini SD card?

backdoor

Oct 5, 2006, 8:49 AM
I am purchasing the 3125 and wondering if there are mini-SD card compatibility issues with any of the brands of mini-SDs. The Qtek Manual says Secure Digital but I'm finding other brands at better prices.

This will be my first phone that uses external memory... I know some SD brands won't work with my Dell PDA.

Any gotchas I need to be aware of before buying a miniSD? e.g. I've found a Ritek Ridata 1GB 150X Pro III mini SD for $21.89.

THANKS!!! Great to find this forum!

Well the one big thing you will run into problems with is that it requires a microSD card NOT miniSD but any brand should work, I'm actually check to see if I can use the 2GB microSD i'm not sure if it has a maxout. If anyone knows, please post.

I bought two of these off of eBay (one for my phone, one for my wife's). It has worked without any trouble thus far (about two weeks of use).

I wouldn't think there would be any compatability issues, other than some brands are probably junkier than others (which may turn out to be "less compatible" in the end). Also, as Naborneo pointed out, make sure you get a MICRO SD card, and not a MINI SD card. The micro SD cards are much smaller; if you get a mini SD card, it will not fit into your phone. 🙂

Thanks, hex... I would have bought the wrong card! Went back to relook at the Qtek 8500 manual referenced by phonesnoop on the info tab... it says:

2. Install the Micro SD card
Use a Mini-SD (Secure Digital) card in your phone to...

I didn't notice the discrepancy and managed to focus on mini. 🙄

i'm having issues with the phone reading a 2GB MICRO SD. the only way the phone sees it or it's contents is through the FILE EXPLORER option in the START menu by choosing "STORAGE CARD" and it doesn't show all the files i've stored to it. more to follow as my tests continue.
