I have a Qtek version I purchased unlocked and have had no problems using it on the Cingular/AT&T network. I did look for a ROM update (I like to keep things up-to-date) but the Qtek website won't accept my serial number (like you) and I can't find an update that is available anywhere else. HTC provides updates with no issues but I'm leary about updating my ROM with their version in case it breaks something.
