The 6133 Can Have Unbranded/Uncrippled Firmware

I have my phone flashed by Evan at Iunlock.com. He flashed the firmware to the 6131. It now can play mp3s as ringtones without conversion (with the DRM removed), OM, GM work and best of all no branding. I can use t-zones just fine and MMS works like a charm. I should have never got rid of my 6131, but now I have it back, as the 6133, no "b."

It cost $35 plus return shipping. He has the equipment to do it. Go to iunlock.com and check out for yourself. I put in the 6131 model number.

Can someone tell me if they've tried this yet?

I'm wanting to try it so I can unlock web apps like Gmail and opera before I switch to the 6670, but I'm a bit worried that I could hose the phone, so if someone else has already tried it, please share your experiences with the world?

It won't work for the 6131/6133 if you live in North America. Even if you have the option on your phone it won't do FOTA updates. If you have the type of phone that gets PC software updates, than it has worked for others.

The updates are carrier supported and so far no North American carrier supports it.

Wow, thanks for the speedy reply! I was expecting a few weeks to go by for this one :-)

What if I were to download an uncrippled file-browser, and copy the contents of the update through the file-browser?

There is no way to load the firmware into ROM through the browser. ☚ī¸

I've had several phone sent to iunlock and have been quite happy with the service.

Most recently I attempted to update firmware on a 6133 through Nokia software update and my computer. I had to send the phone to iunlock to fix it because of problem that cropped up in the middle of the process. 🙄 About 80% into the flash I got a message telling me the connection to the phone was lost and to remove the battery and try again. I received an e-mail yesterday saying it was now properly functioning. I'm glad. 😁 Apparently someone bought it, used it for a day or two and then put it back in the box. It had four hours on the life timer.

I've previously flashed a...
