Nokia 6126 / 6131 / 6133

Why is MMS limited to 640x480 pictures?

Does anyone know why is this limitation and if there is a way to get around it? I'm using fw 6.10 (6133). No point of taking 1280x1024 pictures if they get compressed to 640x480
