Any new info regarding ETA for this phone?

spirit22

Jun 22, 2006, 3:50 PM
In an earlier thread someone had mentioned July 5th as an arrival date for this phone w/Cingular in US stores but none of the Cingular stores even have preliminary info on the phone.

Anyone have any new updates about an ETA for the 6126?

Well yes I did mention, and on our Equipment Pricing sheets the 6126 is slated for a July 5th release for the mentioned price of $149 with a two year contract and $249 full retail. Again this date might change, as the RAZR V3i has been psuhed from mid-July to August. But the 6126 is showing a July 5th release

Cubanito1020,

Did you get to try out the phone? Is the color screen amazing like everyone says it is? Is this a quality phone or the 6282 better?

I'm waiting until August to get this phone at full retail. I hear the first batch of phones that comes out usually will have minor bugs or software defects in them......

Thanks for your post.

I am a Cingular employee (not retail) and here's a little background info... mobile phones are like record albums, they always have initial tentative release dates. Although something can happen that can postpone its release. Nokia (the phone manufacturer) is mass producing this model for Cingular Wireless (carrier) which has 56 million customers to serve. Cingular is acting as the middle man to ALL 56 million of its customers, thats why everyone on here has been given different expectations. I understand this is very frustrating being a consumer, however the sales associates that you interact with at retail locations are given a tentative date that the phone is going to be released. But behind the scenes Nokia may have identified a defect o...

blue-orange,

I really appreciate your straight forward non-B.S. response. And I do understand some of the issues surrounding ETA dates etc., for any new technological equipment. I do my best not to take out my frustration on the Cingular store reps as I've been in their position, relatively speaking, and one is only as good as the info with which they are "armed".

Really, it is the multiple messages from various sources that is frustrating and that there doesn't seem to be a high level of importance on either the part of the phone manufacturers and/or the service providers to communicate clearly with customers.

This will be my very first cell phone and because I've held out so long I'm now anxious to get one.

Now do not quote me, but according to the nokia manufacturer website, it is showing as quad band capabilities. Again Cingular employees are at the mercy of the manufacturers information. I know that all the nokias that have been manufactured for cingular have been tri-band to this point. This may be some retail associates are advising customers that it only has tri-band capabilities. The 6131 is the European counterpart which also is a quad-band device. Due to the 6131 has already been released in Europe, you can find them all over the web. Although I STRONGLY discourage anyone from purchasing a European phone to be used in the domestic U.S.....here are some of the reasons. first if you call into customer care with a question on how to do so...

spoke with our nokia rep this morning,,,, he said that they are still awaiting final approval from cingular testing before the orders will ship; however they are packed and ready for shipment.... he seemed to think that the 14th might be jumping the gun a little since it still hasnt received final approval. But he said it should not be any longer than the first week of august.

Dont get me wrong guys, i want this phone really bad myself... and I look everyday at our shipments to see if it arrived.... but we gotta hang in there!!!
ps.... the rep had one with him this morning, and its everything i dreamed it would be! 😁

Just an update.
Spoke with local Cingular stores again today, both corporate and not. Noone seems to know anything about the phone or if and when it will be available.
I'm no genius but I think that the situation looks rather bleak for the 14th based on that.
