i have just bought the w810 from cingular. and after reading through this site, i have realized that it isn't just a phone camera mp3 player. DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF A SITE WHERE I CAN LEARN HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF MY CELL? LIKE PUTTING MOVIES ON IT, LIKE USING MP3'S AD RING TONES. AND WHAT EVER ELSE IT CAN DO.

MANY MANY MANY THANKS.

The Cingular version do not allow you to save as ringtones but you can download MP3trim for free that allows to to pick the spot you like the most in the phone and cut it down to ringtone format. I didnt really care to much for the music ringtone playback becasue it only allowed you to start from the beginning of teh song which made tghe palyback pointless anyway [for most songs]. So thats a feature; to me that was not needed.

I had a Sony Ericsson W600 prior to this one ane thought -- oh cool, I am going to upgrade.

Well I bought the Sony Ericsson W810 and it has all the features of my old phone with the added feature of an expandable chip.

After buying the phone I discovered the following:

1. The feature of being able to assign an MP3 as a ring tone has been severly limited, so severe it is not even worth saying you can do it. According to Sony Ericsson, this was a feature limitation requested by Cingular to curb illegal MP3 sharing. Someone tell me, how is limiting the size (which is the way they limit it) of the MP3 going to stop me from sharing ALL THE OTHER MP3s on my phone with others? I can send any song I want to any MP3 capable phone I want ...

Between this site and howardforums all of my questions have been answered. For the most part, the only thing that this phone doesn’t do that my w600 did (what I miss), is have the time displayed in stand by mode. I learned how to shorten mp3's to use as ring tones, and I learned how to down load movies to it. So for me this is a great cell phone. I bought the 4 GB card, a short cable(to use my own headphones to listen to music),instead of the long 3 foot long cable with the mic that they sent with the phone. And a case and clip holster from an online auction site. Since none of these things can be found in stores as of yet. I just want to say thanks for all that helped me out with my questions.

i got the cable on ebay. it's just under 3 inches long. and works great. do a search for w810i - then asscesories. 4.99 plus 4.00 shipping if i remember right. also got the clip holster for a penny, and 4$ shipping, can't beat the deals. if you need them. i wish you could get these items in stores, but oh well.
