W810 - The First Look
I have been web shopping for a new cell phone for about 5-6 weeks now and it’s come down to this phone. Previously I’ve used a cell phone to make phone calls (imagine that) and send a few text messages. Now, however, I’d like to be able to use it to IM, pick up web-based mail, web browse (a bit) and maybe do some Pop3 (which I understand Cingular has disabled), but I’m new to these technologies when it comes to cell phones.
My local Cingular store now has this phone and I went and took a look at it today. It’s much smaller than I thought and for the most part that’s a good thing.
My Pro’s:
Screen – Well lit and very colorful
Menu – Fast navigation and fairly intuitive (small icon learning curve)

Also, what do you use to manage your contacts?
Is there a feauter in the Disc2Phone software to do this? Will it sync with Outlook?

So, here are my questions…
1. Anyone else suffering with the volume while talking?
- Though many have reported low earphone volume, I only had this problem on noisy places but on average, I'm pleased with it.
2. How’s your overall call quality and where do you live?
- I live in OC California. Call quality is fine and no drop calls yet.
3. Any unlocked users have trouble on Cingular with data xsfer?
- I'm on T-Mobile...sorry. My phone is unlocked but data transfer is alright. SOme Cingular folks may share later.

I've got an unlocked one. Had it about 2 months. On Cingular...No problems with data transfers.
If you are talking the USB cable, bluetooth, IR, no issues at all. Most of the time, I transfer via the 512 meg card.

Actually, I could have worded that better. What I meant as far as data transfer was Web, Chat, Multimedia, etc.

No problems with data transfer here. My phone is unlocked and unbranded. Its class 10 EDGE, so its fairly quick (speeds).
