Hey all. I'm as eager to get this phone when Cingular releases it. For those who have this phone already... is it possible to get it insured through the carrier even if it is not released yet?

I'm still waiting on my phone to arrive but I'd already asked this exact question of my local Cingular rep. The answer is both yes and no. Yes you can insure a phone that hasn't been released yet as long as it's on their insurance list. HOWEVER, as this phone will surely be expen$ive whenever it's finally released, this phone CANNOT yet be insured by Cimgular. It may, at some point, be put on the list, at which point you could get it! I used my AMEX to pay for mine since it gives me 90 days of lost/stolen/damaged protection and doub;es the manufacturor's warranty.

Most Independant retailors will be happy to put insurance on it wheather it's covered or not, and if you claim it just say that you were told that you could put Insurance on it, there for you want it replaced. I talk with the people at Lockline all the time, there push-overs.

Just to let you know that I work for cingular and there is a inventory spot for warranty and insurance handsets so it should be insurable. I am just waiting for the #s in the inventory list to not be 0.

I work for the lockline and right now that phone is going to be uninsurable and its not in our inventory, so cingular won't let you add insurance to this phone... and if you have insurance and try to replace it is impossible for us to do. If you have insurance and try to replace this phone the best we could send the w600i but since that has been discontinued they would replace it w/the samsung D807. And that may not make you happy. It cannot be ordered if not in inventory. You can find what phones are not insurable here-when it is release it will be added to this list.
