Question on buying w810i

a few sellers with ebay stores are $125 less than buying direct from SE. any concerns going this route? also, does the over the air firmware updates work? i'm on a mac, and it would be a pain to update via a pc...

and if i wait for cingular to release, would unlocking be easy?

any other tips/preferred sellers would be helpful.

I bought my w810i from wireless_experts off of eBay, been happy with it every since. I've tried doing the over the air update, but it keeps coming back saying I have the latest firmware, so Im not sure if it works exactly. I say go for the eBay route, just buy from a trusted seller, one who has lots of feedback.

Chances are if you buy it from Cingular, it will be locked, as they are starting to lock their phones now I believe, but you can probably buy an unlocking kit off of eBay aswell.

Bought mine from ebay for $440 shipped and no problems so far. Ebay is perfectly fine as long as you play it smart.

I tried getting my S710a unlocked from Cingular and was unsuccessful, even though I paid full retail price for it, had it for 90 days and my account in good standing; they are an awful company. So I would say you'd have to pay to get it unlocked, which is pretty easy.

I bought from akvbc, he didn't leave feedback, which is not cool, but otherwise was very good.
