Dropped Calls

I dont know how many people have experienced problems with dropped calls, but I have had a lot of problems with this on my w810i. I absolutley love this phone but the number of dropped calls got really anoying. I read up on this in some other forums and it seems to be a common event and it is due to a software defect in handing off the call from one tower to another. You can be sitting still and still be passed from tower to tower and this drops calls. I swithced my settings from Automatic Network Selection to Manual and that seemed to make the dropped calls go away. There is also mention of flashing the phone but that comes with risks. Here is a link that discusses this issue. http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topi c=121147 hop...

I think that this problem exists with some but not all the w810i phones that have been released. Is your phone set to manual network selection? I dont get dropped calls if i set it like this.

If your getting dropped calls you need to update your firmware to the latest, which at the moment is R4CK003. Go to www.sonyericsson.com for more details.

My phone says it has the R4CE012 version on it. When i run the Auto Update service, it says that this is the most current version. Is it? How did you get that other version?? The website doesnt mention anything about which version is the latest but has a update program utility you can download to your computer... whats the point of that if you can do it from this phone?? What version do the rest of you have on your phones???

I have no problems with mine in Baltimore, MD. Have any of you tried calling Sony Ericsson? They may be able to send the update straight to your phone. Sorry I can't help more!

+1 for Houston. No dropped calls on Cingular and I did the OTA update as soon as I received it a week ago. Updated to version R4DB005 and I haven't looked back since. I did notice that the label on the box had EN, FR on it so I assume that it was going England and France since it supports English, French and two Arabic languages. I've read on other sites that the China firmware (if you have it) could be the problem since updates are apparently different for the various regions of the world (??). Maybe the OP should check out the Davinci update??

I am looking for a warranty to purchase
for the 810i. I hope to purchase it on E-bay
from Wireless_experts. Does any one know how to buy that either from them or other way?

Does anyone experience dropped calls on Cingular with the 810i in Minneapolis Metro?

I experienced dropped calls with T-mobile in LA. Sony has a patch. I applied it and no more dropped calls. Please check my message under Dropped Calls.

Sony has solution for it. Download the utility from SOny Ericsson's website. If you had the utility before, uninstall it first then install it again. Then upgrade the phone software. I did that and there are no more dropped calls.
