MP3's as Ringtones DEFINITIVE INSTRUCTIONS????
Most people come here looking for a way to do this. And most people like me are told my verizons tech dept. to come here. But yet I have not found any definitive instructions. So does anyone know where I can finf=d this info? Im a begginer when it comes to this phone and all Ive been able to do is transfer songs and pictures with the micro sd card. I also have only tried WMA songs.
So my question is in order to set my songs as ringtones do they need to be MP3's or can i keep them as wma. and do i need a cable or can i just do all this via the micro sd card? maybe someone can post (I would if I had the instructions) the definitive instructions.

First make sure you have an sd card for your phone to store everything on, I bought the music essentials kit to get the usb cable you need in order to transfer songs onto the phone install windows media player 10 and usb drivers that came with the kit, next Download Bitpim and Audacity these are the two programs I am using to do this. Once everything is instaslled connect your phone and put it in snyc mode as if your transferring songs onto it.

when you say "make the mp3 you want" do you mean make exactly like raiderfan said using bitpim (but instead of using the cable just drop it into the mysounds folder)??
Thanks if you reply,

It's not that hard. If you have a Micro SD and a way to connect it to your computer (through a slot on my printer for example) then you just make an mp3 you want.. rename it to .mid instead of .mp3 and then drop it in the my_sounds folder.
Basically, edit the MP3 using Soundforge or Audacity or whatever you use.. reduce the quality of the mp3.. set it to mono if your phone only has one speaker (SCh-a930 has two.. so leave it on speaker.) Lower quality = more songs.
When you export them as .mp3.. just rename it to .mid and then drop them on the micro sd card in the my_sounds folder.
Worked for me. Then on the phone go to your "My Sounds" folder and set your tones!
I did it and it seems real easy! I didnt even have to convert the file to .mid I just did as the first instructions stated..
also i was wondering if i do exactly what you say but transfer directly to the Sd card instead of buying the cable do you think that would work?
Thanks,
Joey
