headset pinout / sennheiser mm50 problem

by Rattlehead83    Oct 31, 2007, 4:06 AM

Hi, having a problem finding a good pair of headphones for the music player. I don't really want to go the 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter route. I have a pair of the Samsung brand earphones, but I wasn't real impressed with the sound quality, and the earbuds constantly fell out of my ears or become loose. I just purchased a pair of Sennheiser mm50's. They sound great, but unfortunately, they aren't completely compatible and the mic doesn't work. So, I was wondering if anyone knew what the jack pinout is. If it isn't too complicated to modify the jack wiring I would like to get the mic to work. If not, I just need to decide if I would rather just have better sound quality at the sacrifice of using it as a headset. Does anyone have any experience with this? It is still a 4 pole connector, and the L/R signals are correct, so it would just be a matter of switching two wires, correct? If that is true, also wondering if it would be easier to modify the jack in the phone instead of the plug. Any help is appreciated.
