Just so you know, read through the posts a bit, you will find a lot of answers, I just posted this one actually.
Yes, you can use it with it closed. Actually most phones you can. The difference with the a930 is you can answer, and hang up using the speakerphone button and having the phone closed. The button is on the left side of the phone and you have to hold it down for about 3 seconds to either answer or end.

Thanks! I do try to scroll first b/f asking but i have noticed that alot of people are posting comments in the Verizon forum and some others are posting here so i must have just missed it! Either way that is what i was hoping for and am going to go pick one up today!

P.S. Don't forget to turn your old phone off when they activate your new one. I did 🙂 and I was not receiving calls for about 2 hours because the network didn't know which phone to send it to 🙂

Hey anyone on the west coast know when were getting this phone?? I'm in arizona and no one at Verizon corporate or BestBuy, Circuit city have any idea when there getting it?

I am actually in the Twin Cities, but just to let you know what I had to do...I am actually a manager at a Circuit City here and my Verizon people had no idea when they would get it, I called Verizon and they said the same thing. I found out SOME Best Buys had it so I had to call every one here in the cities. I only found one that had it.

actually after i reread your post you didnt mention if you could actually create a call from the speakerphone mode w/ the clam closed you only said you could answer it in speaker mode. Do you know if you can make a call w/ the clam closed?

Buddha, you cannot make a call with the phone shut. There is no way to pull up your Contact list. I have actually never seen that feature.

the only way to make a call with the phone shut is througha bluetooth headset, it works well when you custimize the phone to your voice
