My sentiments exactly. Nothing groundbreaking about this phone either. NEXT!

since when are carriers not allowed to launch entry level phones anymore???

this phone is actually the replacement to the i710. it looks to be about the same size as the i560 (which is actually nextel's lightest phone) just minus the external display, and without the extra "ruggedness" this might be a smaller phone.

sorry this does not meet your requirements but there are plenty of other users around the U.S that do not NEED every bell and whistle and this phone will make a lot of users happy.

EXACTLY. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this phone, or any other Nextel phone. I have had Nextel for two years. Started out with an i530 and recently upgraded to an i730. No problem with either phone. After all, I bought my phone to make phone calls, not to watch TV or listen to music.

hahaha very true. even though i do not like nextel's service at all (just switched from nextel to sprint) ... there is nothing wrong with an entry level phone. Theres actually some people out there who dont want to pay hundreds of dollars for a phone that broadcasts TV, plays MP3's, is as thin and flimsy as a piece of paper, and has a camera that you barely use.

also, it seems that phones that have all that extra crap end up having bad reception and terrible battery life!

One of the main reasons that Nextel doesnt do fancy phones very often is because a main part of the consumers are government accounts that do not allow the employees to have cameras or any other fancy options. Another large part of the consumer base is construction where the phones need to be a little more rugged so people dont have to buy phones as often. Thats why they dont appeal to most average americans cause everybody wants the newest, smallest phones that serve the same purpose of calling somebody when you arent near a land line.

😳 Then theres me, one who does want MP3 streaming playback. A camera to use (example- to take pictures of my first caucus tomorrow for Obama in Colorado ;) But I have it for work. I can get news articles from the net, but other than calls, walkie, and text....not much else. Basic phone, but definitely not a bad phone. 😛

Nextel phones may be a little bigger, because of Direct Connect, and the fact that they are actually built to last, unlike cheap Verizon phones. And how do you know service is "crappy"? Have you tried it yourself? Didn't think so. I have had Nextel for two years and have NEVER had a problem with service.

Just because Nextel phones don't have every little feature pack into them doesn't mean they are bad. You'll find that many people out there don't need all that stuff, me included. I bought my PHONE to make a PHONE CALL, not to watch TV.

i have had nextel...i had 4 phones w/ them i90c, i730, i830, and the i836...my service was crappy and dc always failed on me...don't go attacking me like that...i know some people don't need all the bells and whistles but at least make the phones appealing...

Nothing wrong with an entry level phone. I just would have asked that they not recycle the same damn menu they have been using on every iden color screen phone that ever came out. The new menu style like the i870 is so much nicer to look at and use. Moto has been notorious to be married to their menu styes though. I know my e815 i had felt like my old old old t720. 😛 Go figure.

Compared to other entry level phones that are FREE after instant rebate, not $100 + mailin, this isnt that impressive. Come on, Sanyo 8300 is now $50 after mailin...

i wouldnt be surprised if this phone wassnt offered free after MIR come xmas time. who knows maybe moto actually attempted to put quality in their handsets (to justify the price lol)

however when i worked at a service center, i saw the least amount of issues with the "replacement" falcon series (i.e. i560, i760 etc) so with this phone replacing the i710 (which is still more expensive) it might ACTUALLY be worth the $50 ROFL!
