WiFi security?

I'm tempted to jump into the smartphone market, but don't know anything about built-in security. Can these phones safely be used off-the-shelf to, e.g., retrieve email (since this requires sending your pw)? Or do you have to do some configuring yourself?

Well considering that this phone comes with IE built in, you will have the same risk of passwords being intercepted than if used by an actual computer (if using IE).

But if you're referring to POP3 (etc) to access e-mail, it will be the same as if you were connecting wirelessly to a home network (for example) to retrieve information - the only place to get intercepted is with whom you're "talking" to.
