Couple of simple questions

Hi,

I have a tracfone Nokia (very simple cell phone). I would like to get a Motorola C139.

Questions:

To transfer my phone directory and minutes, is it as simple as just transferring the SIM card to the new unit?

When I had an old Motorola with verizon, I could maintain my phone directory with an interface cable and some software. Does that exist for the C139?

Thanks

I think the Tracfone people have to transfer your minutes. I don't think the SIM card keeps track of them. When my old tracfone died, they had to transfer the units to the new C139. It took a long time, but was fairly easy.

Not sure about the phone directory issue, but again, I'm sure the tracfone people can answer that question.

May I ask why you want to switch to the C139? I was thinking about switching to the Nokia!

Dave,

Both my wife and I have the simple Nokia phone. I have to maintain the phone directories for both of them.

I think the motorola can be updated via a pc. That is why I asked the second question.

Hi Fred, I get it. I checked the manual, and don't see a way to update the C139 via a PC. Apparently you can copy phonebook entries to the SIM card, though. Here is a link to the Motorola site that has the manual and other information on the phone:

One thing I have to warn you about with the C139 (which is why I'm considering switching): every 10-20 seconds, the display goes blank, and there is no key you can press to get it back without negating whatever is was you were doing. It can be incredibly, throw-the-phone-across-the-room frustrating.

Thanks Dave,

I will check out the link.

Information sharing is the way to go.

Thanks,

Fred
