Just got my Q a few days ago, and this standard battery is complete BS.
Im going to ask them to give me an extended battery free since the standard sucks so bad, if that fails im going to squeeze them for what its worth to pay as little as possible for the extended. Verizon is a bunch of morons for selling this thing with the standard battery. Anyone who has used one for more than a few days should know exactly what I mean.

Customer service reps, here I come.

If they piss me off enough, I will go back to my V710, and get a Q some other time. Im that anal over this. I'm still within my 14 days return time. I will get shafted on this deal.
Wow I'm pretty angry now.

Yeah Q battery life is lacking. Thats what happens when you make such a device so thin, less battery life.

Good luck getting anything like an extended battery free though, it just won't happen.

Battery fine for normal use. Make sure it is charged all the way and then used up all the way and then charged again. I got a lot more use the second day of charging.

I charge it everyday, which is fine for me and got the car charger.

And what do you want a laptop. Then go get one them and lug that baby around!!

No problems on this phone. amazing things, quick internet, check banking, pay bills, weather, call contacts from calendar. email easy and text easy, vibrate, speakerphone and blue tooth all excellent.

Most everything can be adjusted , but like any new thing it takes some experience using it.

I have had my Q for a few days now. I am just today getting COMPLETELY sick of the fact that the battery doesn't even get me through the entire day (even when I only make about 10 minutes worth of calls the whole day). It's just ridiculous that they could charge $300 for a phone and then expect US to pay the extra $25 for the battery. I'm calling customer service as well. Who knows , maybe if enough of us complain.

Otherwise, I have to admit that I have been getting great service wherever I go. I happened to be in Manhattan for a day and a half and got a great signal wherever I went (except in one elevator).

I am also still in my 15 day return policy . I like the phone but this battery thing is enough to make me return it!!!!

standard for most the other phones are 39.99........so i dont understanding why you are b#!$ching

After finally getting around to calling the cellular overlords that call themselves Verizon.
I was able to get an extended battery for no charge.....However. I paid 24.99 for it on credit card, then I have to fax the invoice to a nice lady at Verizon and she is going to credit me back the 24.99 plus shipping. So I paid for the battery, but I am getting credited back.

If you complain enough to Verizon you sometimes get what you want, plus you magically start to speak their language when you say your possibly going to return it for a refund.

I hate to get screwed, especially when they got me by the balls for 2 years, plus $50 amonth on the data plan, plus $75 on the voice plan. So yeah, I've got every right to complain about it. I compl...

Well, I called customer service and all that they are willing to do is advise me to get the extended battery at MY COST! I don't have the data plan, perhaps that makes the difference. If you do, then they figure you pay more so they'll give more???

How much bulkier does the extended battery make the phone anyway?

It doesnt add much at all, I can still put the phone with the ext batt in the clip that came with it, with the face outwards.
Trust me, get this battery at all costs, it makes this phone so much better. the standard is such...
such.... uttter,... poo !!!

If anything it makes the phone easier to hold when you hold it up to your face to talk on it.

You can find pics online, just go to google image search and type it in.
Look for Motorola Q extended battery
and you will see tons of pics. and that it barely makes the phone much bigger at all.

Here is a link to a site with excellent pics of how much size difference the battery makes.
The fact that you can now use the phone for more than 2 hours without it dying greatly outweighs...

One more thing.
As a size comparison, the Q phone with the bigger battery is still only a few millimeters thicker than my 5g 30gb ipod.

Hope that helps give a visual on the size difference.
Again too, it makes the phone easier to hold.

Thanks for the reply!

I really like this phone and have two more days before my 15 days is up. I have no complaints (aside from the battery life) . I have gotten good reception everywhere , even in Manhattan) without only merely one bar of signal strength showing most times (especially in my home.)

All of a sudden last night while on the phone in my home, it dropped a call. I had a small signal as always and called the person right back and it went on for an hour and a half (until I decided my call was done and ended it myself). The phone actually said DROPPED CALL rather than call ended. Should I be worried that this is the start of this phone dropping calls or do you think this is a freak thing?? I have been using this for 9 da...

dont sweat the dropped call.
keep in mind your signal strength is typically 30 seconds delayed. If you go near a window and watch the sig strength for a minute, you will notice it level out and stay at more bars.
I have dropped calls with full signal, on all the phones I have ever owned. So dont sweat it.
Not to mention, there is also thousands of other calls being handled by your nearest cell tower, so a busy tower could drop a call.
I know thats not supposed to happen, but someone tell that to the tower.
Im on day 2 now of the extended battery, and its been awesome it stays charged a long time now. I'm lovin my Q.

If anyone cares, I ordered the following goodies for my Q.

I ordered a 2gb Mini SD card (Transcend brand)
off of newegg for 39$ (includes shipping)
and I got my car charger (motorola brand)
for 9.99 off CellularAccessory.com
(love those guys)
All has been quite well with the extended battery.

i find it funny that not one person mentioned motorola when complaining about battery life. all the bitching about verizon not giving you free stuff, anyone remember the samsung I730? it comes with a free xl bat from the manufacturer, not the service provider. the 25 bucks ain't a bad deal. the Q is still the cheapest pocket pc out there even with the additional battery.
