If you get the data plan, do you still need a text msg plan or are they included?

Hi! I am considering a Q, but like many users, I feel the $44.95 price tag is a bit steep. I was wondering... I currently have a text/pix/flix package, and would like to know, if you purchase a Q and get the unlimited data plan, are text, pix and flix messages included, or do you have to have a separate plan for that?

Thanks! 😁

Yeah the data does not include texting. Completely different. Are you on a single line plan though? Depending on what you need for minutes you might be able to get a voice/data plan that could save you a little money.

NEWS FLASH!

In case people were not aware, you can get the 2000 text message plan for FREE if you have the data plan. Basically there is a text plan called "SMS2000" that is only available on the windows smart phones liek the Moto Q as long as you have the data plan. Call Verizon and ask them to add the "SMS2000" option to your plan. Thats it. Do not volunteer any info or tell them that you plan to use this for free text messaging. However if they ask why you want it, just tell them you are trying to get your Q phone to work with your company Microsoft Exchange server and that this is necessary.

Basically, prior to the patches for Exchange 2003/WinMobile5, there was no real way to get push/pull to work without SMS carrying the email r...

It's true. But I don't know if they're still honoring it. I know it was available when the phone first came out, but now with any patches that were made, they may not still honor it.

I got the plan on my solver q last June and I added it to my Wifes Black Q in Feb of this year. (And the patches you mention became available last year)

Just tell the VZ guy you want to add the SMS2000 plan. Say no more.

You must, sadly, have a separate plan.
