I am in need of some serious help. My laptop is not connecting to my Q. I was on the phone today for over 2 hours w/ Motorola and we could not figure it out. Here are some details:
Dell Inspiron E1405 laptop
McAfee Antivirus protection
Trying to use USB w/ Activesync

The computer is just not finding the Q. We have installed and uninstalled Activesync like 4 times and nothing.

Any help from anyone is greatly appreciated.

Did you try to just connect it to a different USB port?

i surelly tried both ports from my ibm T43 laptop and didn't work, called Motorolla tech support couple times, i even had my IT guys worked on it and it still didn't work. But it works fine with my desktop at home though. Anyway, bluetooth it is.

After approximately 3 1/2 hours on the phone w/ Motorola the issue was resolved. As crazy as this sounds it either had something to do with Plaxo or a firewall setting that was missed during the first go round with this.

In any event, the Q rocks!

Gotta love how our tone changes once thing are working correctly again. I don't know how many times I've hated/loved something in the same breath. 😉

your active sync is probably having issues because when you initially use wireless sync it sometimes forces your activesync to de-activate... just go into active sync settings and activate it, and it should fix your problem, it fixed mine.

Well, I'm back to saying Activesync stinks. I attempted to sync up and was back at square one again. Apparently, McAfee and the Q have a glitch. I called Motorola tech support back and they informed me that McAfee is aware of the problem and that I should contact them for assistance since it appears to be on their end.

I contacted them and after several go arounds, they informed me that the fix would be on an update which will be coming out. The bad news is that they did not have a timeframe on when that is going to take place.

If I knew that Activesync was going to be like this, the Q never would have been bought. This is ridiculous.

Sounds like it's McAfee's problem.....not the Q. 😕

Honestly, I think ActiveSync has been having trouble with a number of anti-virus software. I have Norton and was having problems synching, but the recent ActiveSync update fixed all of that.

I have Trend and my laptop would not find my Q either... the way i fixed the problem was to turn off my firewall when syncing my Q. That seemed to fix the problem for me.
