this is a great phone but why bother putting a music player on without expandable memory.

Because its got 40 MB of memory and perhaps not ALL people put alot fo music on their phone and if they do well then this isnt the phone for them and they can easily select from a number of other phones WITH expandable memory that are also music phones.
