Have just learned from a very reputable source that Cingular has indeed passed on this phone --was originally due out July, but ended up getting passed altogether.

Cingular will most probably aquire another Nokia model instead, but that's all I want to say for now.

cinguloathe, are you referring to the 6126 as the other Nokia Cingular will offer? It's being tested by Cingular now according to the thread over at HowardForums.

I'm just curious if you have any insider info as to when the 6126 might be released, as I'm waiting to leave Verizon (horrible service at my new house), but I don't like any of Cingular's current phones and it seems like the 6126 might be "the one" that gets me to switch carriers. Please share if you have any info. Thanks!!

that is a link to a media article on the cingular website... the quote that is important is this:

Cingular Video uses the power of 3G phones as well as Cingular's new high- speed 3G wireless broadband network. Cingular Video will initially be available in the markets of Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tacoma and Washington, D.C. Additional 3G markets will be rolled out throughout the year. Cingular currently offers 3G service on the LG CU320 or Samsung SGH-ZX10 handsets and will add the Nokia 6282 and LG CU500 to its 3G product line later this spring.

Yes, the 6126 --according to my source will be out sometime in July (when the 6282 would've been) --and believe me, my source would DEFINITELY know.

I actually switched from Cingular to Verizon (when I got my screen name), and although people COULD indeed "hear me now", they just couldn't understand a word I was saying --nor could I them (a word like "bluetooth" sounding like "boo-boo") --and after one month I came running back to Cingular.

I've been a big Nokia fan for years, having tried without success all the new LG's, Samsung's, and Moto's. In fact, having gotten nowhere with those, I'M still using my 8390 from like 6 years ago!!! Believe me, no one is as impatient about this as I.

Well, considering that the 6126 isnt a UMTS phone, its highly unlikely that Cingular is canceling the 6282 in exchange of the 6126.

from the people i have spoken with in cingular, they are still firm on releasing this phone when UMTS goes nationwide. i mean its on the freekin rebate sheet.

Yes, and it's been on the rebate sheet for two months. The rebate sheet that I saw expires next week, which doesn't look too good for the 6282. Let's see if it's on the next rebate sheet... 😉

i was in a Cingular store today...the sales rep showed me the promotional flyer for the 6282 and said that it will probably be out in 2 weeks (mid-june). he didn't know what the price would be.

he also said that he thinks there are 2 other 3G phones coming out this summer and he didn't think that Cingular would be getting any N-series phones because they are too expensive. that would suck if it was true, but i wouldn't be surprised.

What difference does it make if it is accepted by Cingular? Why not buy the phone unlocked and drop the SIM card in?

Because if it was available by the carrier, you may qualify for a discount and not have to pay manufactures suggested retail.. also, data features would not be provisioned for the carrier. Although that is an easy fix.
